Your privacy is the whole point. BISS only works if you can be honest without being surveilled — so we collect as little as we can, hide your name by default, and never sell you to advertisers. Here's exactly what happens with your data.
01What we collect
- Account & verification — enough to confirm you're one real human (for example, an email and a verification signal). We store your real identity securely and keep it hidden by default.
- Your stories & content — what you write, the brands you mention, your reactions and follows.
- Usage & device — how you use BISS and basic device/log data, used to run and improve the service and keep it secure. See our Cookie Policy.
02Why we use it
- To run BISS: turn your words into a story, generate a score, build your Journal Page and Brand Pages.
- To keep it real: verify humans and detect bots, fakes, and machine-written filler.
- To produce aggregated, anonymized brand intelligence for businesses.
- To run contests and deliver prizes and rewards.
- To keep the platform safe, secure, and lawful.
03Names, anonymization, and redaction
Protecting people is built into the product, automatically:
- Your real name is never shown unless you choose to publish a story under it.
- Private people you mention are swapped for a stand-in before a story goes live. Public figures — executives, politicians, celebrities — stay named; accountability is the point.
- Personal details get scrubbed — home address, phone number, medical specifics — and you'll always see that it happened. We never sanitize the feeling, only what could bite you or someone else.
04What businesses can see
Subscribing businesses see the aggregated, anonymized truth about their own brand — top praises, top complaints, sentiment, and trends drawn from many stories. Signal is labeled as Verified Identity (from real-name stories) or Verified Human (from pseudonymous stories). In neither case do brands see your name. Only in-app member stories become sellable intelligence, and always in aggregate.
05No ads, never sold to advertisers
We do not run ads and we do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers. Businesses pay for aggregated, anonymized insight about themselves — that's the entire business model.
06When we share data
- Service providers who help us run BISS (e.g. hosting, verification), under strict confidentiality.
- Legal reasons — if required by law or to protect people's safety.
- Business transfer — if BISS is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, with notice to you. Your promises travel with your data.
07Your controls
- Edit or delete anything, anytime — per story or your whole account. Deletion means removal and back-end anonymization.
- Per-story visibility — public or private, and which identity, your call every time.
- Access & portability — request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it.
08Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data, and we keep verification details separate from your public presence. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping your truth safe is core to the product.
09How long we keep it
We keep your content while your account is active and you keep it published. When you delete content or your account, we remove and anonymize it, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal obligations or prevent abuse.
10Children
BISS isn't for children under 16 (or the minimum age in your country). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone below that age.
11Where your data lives
BISS is operated from the United States and your data may be processed there. Where the law requires it, we put appropriate safeguards in place for international transfers.
12Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email. The privacy promises on our Promises page are the foundation and aren't going anywhere.
